PATH Tehama County - Poor And The Homeless, Tehama County Coalition

Pam Klein and her husband Michael moved to Red Bluff Ca. in 1983. They opened a retail furniture store on Main Street called Family Furniture. Later the name was changed to North Valley Mattress and Oak and is still in business. In 2006 they expanded and opened another store in an empty K-Mart building on South Main street where they remain in business. In 2003 Pam retired from the State of California Employment Development Department where she worked as a Disability Insurance representative. After retiring she volunteered on the Board for the Alzheimer’s Association in Chico Ca. for 5 years.

Wanting to volunteer closer to home, she joined the Board for PATH. She had always had an interest in the homeless. In 1999 she began feeding people on Saturdays in the city park because she found out that was the only day no one was feeding in Red Bluff. After doing that for several years she had to stop for health reasons. She continued to support it through the Cornerstone Church of God for a few more years, and the church has continued it as their ministry.

While on the Board for PATH she noticed they had no one in particular to coordinate their activities for fund raising. She volunteered to be the coordinator. Now her job is to calendar all events in the future and to raise as much money as she can for PATH.

Other activities she has been active with PATH is with the women’s home where she served as the Director and Case Worker for the home for several months while it was in the beginning stages.
She also works close with the Winter Shelter. She picks up products from Starbucks and Mr .Pickles sandwhich shop and delivers them to the Shelter three times a week. She tries to make it to the Shelter to provide music with her keyboard especially at Christmas time.

It is Pam’s goal to keep the public aware of all three programs PATH has to offer, the Winter Shelter, Path Sale House for Women and Children and the Pathways men’s transitional living.
