| I am Mary Stevens; I have been married to Ted Stevens for 48 years. We have a daughter Denise and two granddaughters, Morgan 14 and Ilani 17. Our son Rick passed away in 2001 of complications of Marfan Syndrome at the age of 30.
I have been a resident of Tehama Co. since 1996, moving here from Vacaville CA.
I started helping with PATH in 2002 and became a Board Member 6 or 7 years ago. I met Allene at The Presbyterian Church when they joined at the same time. When she asked if I could help do the bedding for the shelter I said yes, and when she asked me to be on the board I said yes. Since then I have been doing what I can to help. Now my husband, Ted helps me, we also have our neighbor sharing some of the laundry duties.
When we started with the PATH Sale House, I talked to my brother-in-law, Rick Stevens (retired Electrician) about helping do some of the electrical work that needed to be done and he and my sister-in-law flew out from Michigan and did the initial electrical work. It has been exciting to see PATH grow and also frustrating to see all the problems in trying to build the permanent shelter. It is exciting to see so many positive things happening now toward getting the permanent shelter actually built, that will be prayers answered!! |
